Yes, ‘People’ who appreciated music like this were, as a whole, much nicer then, and far less materlialistic…..much as all the writers and players were there for what they were trying to express, far more than for how much money they could make by saying it….that was the main difference between the Mainstream Commercial Pop culture……which most people now tend to forget?

I’m not sure people were nicer then, but the times were definitely different.
As for the music - in the 60s/70s it was expected you could play, sing, and write to be a success.
Today Rock musicians that can play well can’t write, and those that can write well can’t play.
