    Figure out how many …
Figure out how many watts your devices use. (They usually say on the device) Lets say you want to use 50 watts for 12 hours per day. 50 watts x 12 hours = 600 watt hours. If you wish to use a 12 volt system that would mean 600 watt hours / 12 volts = 50 amp hours.

    Nice little system …
Nice little system for a small house. I like how you don’t really try to “sell power back” to your Elec utility. That complicates things quite a bit.

I have an appreciation for what you have so far; however, in a location where you may want to use a stove, electric heat, or air conditioning, you don’t have the juice for it. You would need way more solar panels and they cost a whole lot of money. It’s still cheaper to just get your power the old fashioned way. It’s like comparing a big V8 (the grid) to a one cylinder 2 stroke moped (your panels/batteries).

The panel name is “ELIMINATOR” made by “MotoMaster” sold at a solar store here in town. I had never heard of them either. He said he gets them form over seas. these two 80s push 10 amps on clear days, have seen them push as much as 12 after a rainstorm. I love them, and will buy more.

Hey Dave, I would still like to know what brand of panels you have? and if your happy with them? Thanks

    exactly. I am …
exactly. I am super-efficient and I use 4-8Kwh per day. My setup would need to be 8-16 times bigger than his. And I am using little electricity. But that’s less than 60 cents a day on my worst day off the grid.

Also, when you increase current and increase the number of batteries and install a distribution for the house, it gets really expensive. Small scale seems cheap, big scale gets really expensive. And by big I mean typical household usage.

i can run anything at 1000 watts or lower, because of the 1000 watt inverter, but drawing 1000 watts from my bank, i will use a days charge up in a little over an hour.
