Poor people always buy new cars. Rich people buy used cars cause it's 25% cheaper. Poor people always buy big homes they can't afford and struggle with their mortgages.

And most even smoke??? Why?

Several reasons. One is that in some cases, it is easier to buy a new car than a used one.(go figure). Another is that more affluent people are less insecure and feel they have less to prove to the world, so they are comfortable with driving a used car.

Still another is likely that more affluent people are likely to be better educated and therefor more aware of the folly of wasting money.

My neighbor, who taught economics at the local university, always said the new cars were for the very very rich and the very very foolish. He always bought a 2 year old car for his wife. He drove a 10 year old Chrysler. Ugly as hell but he didn't care.

Additionally, many people are so ignorant mechanically that they are scared to buy a used car because they don't know what to look for in a good used car.
Good used pickup trucks,(around here anyway), are hard to find because more and more people are keeping their trucks until they are virtually totally worn out.
Older people may be fearful of mechanically breakdowns and being stranded. Older people also remember when cars rarely lasted more than a 100k miles. Newer cars last a lot longer now. My Toyota has 200K and still runs fine.

Our society teaches that spending money will make one feel better. Even if you don't have cash you can buy things with credit. I wonder what caused the economic downturn.

ok first of all what do you mean by poor people? I'm a cpa and i make 90k a year. I drive a lexus 2008 es 350 that i paid 38k for. and i own a home that is worth 800k. i don't smoke. now i don't understand your question cause i never seen poor people do all this. maybe some people that live in the ghetto will drive a nice car but a big fancy home too? i doubt it. i don't know what bank is financing these big homes and cars for these poor people but let me know cause it seems like a stupid bank so i'm thinking of going to work there so i could do a little crime :)

They are trying to create an illusion of being rich.
Also, I seriously think that some poor people have just been very unlucky, it's not their fault they are in that situation, therefore it is the duty of more fortunate people to help out. as for the ones that waste money they have on expensive cars, houses, alcohol, drugs and stripers and then start benefiting from the tax dollars of hard working people. F***** YOU BASTARDS
