In short: Live and let live! And make sure to love, especially yourself.

Change has to start somewhere…and in general I find that people who place so much emphasis on image and/or are insistent on judging others based on appearance are tremendously insecure within themselves. Simple psychology really. I guess my point was “Have fun with makeup, let it be an art, but don’t let it feed your insecurities further to the point where you can’t leave the house without it on. And I know it’s all hippy(ish) but work on loving yourself and become “secure” with your insecurities. Realize it’s not THAT big of a deal. Go against the grain. Screw the magazines, the media etc and everyone who’s told you “You should look like _____” since the day you were born. The more we work on knowing who we are, loving and accepting that person, flaws and all, the less likely we are to care about our so-called “flaws”. No one is “perfect”. Ads are airbrushed and faces and bodies are sculpted with plastic surgery - is that real? No.

So it’s up to us as individuals to make a change within ourselves and hopefully raise our kids once we have them, or if we have them not to buy into this crap. Because at the rate our society is going, by the time I have kids, I wouldn’t be surprised if a 6 year old asked for a nose job. I was in Target a few months ago and 4 year old told her mom “Mommy, I dont like this shirt, it makes me look fat.” WTF ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? And the ads and media will stay the same because it’s all fueled by $$$ Think about how much women spend on weight loss pills, gym memberships, plastic surgery, cosmetics, acne treatment, wrinkle creams etc. If they could, they’d be selling us new eyes! Oh wait! they do. Colored contacts. So it has to start with us and be passed down in our own lineage. And any one of my friends would tell you I am very vocal to them and anyone who will listen about the importance of not judging other people and learning to be comfortable with and loving yourself.

    I’ve always thought …
I’ve always thought about that. Makeup is art. People take it too seriously when you go out of the boundaries. I started to get into makeup and got rude comments about how I can’t do this or that.
I’m happy that I’m more comfortable and confident with a bare face. It took years to get to the point but it’s such a better feeling than rushing to put a mask on.

I’ve seen many kids say “I look fat” and it’s really screwed up. I’ve noticed some kiddie shows are going for a more mature audience.
