we just bought a house that had ugly wood paneling in it. we took off the wood but now there is a bunch of glue stuck on the wall, and some patches wall that have been partially pulled off. I want to paint. My husband says to sand it off. But then he says we will have to re texture the wall. Is it true?
We had a similar problem. Heating the glue with a hairdryer softened it a bit and made it easier to scrape off.

Scrape the glue off the wall. You may peal off the paper surface of the drywall. With a wide taping knife spread joint compound over the bad spots. Try to keep it thin and smooth. Sand off the high spots and plaster again. This will take some time to even everything out but it works. Don’t be in a hurry.
