I want to buy a ceiling fan with brushed nickel and have bathroom fixtures the same. Is there some way I can paint the gold? Thanks

I would suggest you paint the ugly gold trim in black..it will accent the glass and the brushed nickel nicely without being obtrusive. If you try to paint it in silver..chances are it will look cheap compared to the fan and fixtures. I would paint it out with tremclad…the flat black will look great. Tremclad is made for metal. I have used it on new and antique hardware, and lighting..even to touch up door knobs.

Sure you can paint them, just be sure to use a paint specified for metal. Glass doors on a closet? Who wants to be able to see all the stuff in a closet through the doors?

You can clean the metal trim with TSP and tape it off and paint with metalic silver paint. The paint can be bought at hobby lobby, michaels, walmart or an auto parts.

Yes you can paint almost anything, 1st make sure you have a drop cloth down under the doors. 2nd - You need to sand the gold with some 120grit sandpaper so this provides key for the next paint to grip to. 3rd - you need to buy your paint, either enamel (stinky paint) or water based paint. Prob just a litre should do it, Also need some VINYL ETCH a litre of that. Should grab some blue masking tape alsoand a mask!!. Once the sanding is done, dust down or wipe a damp cloth over the whole gold area, and mask the glass right next to - but not on the gold. Shake the V.Etch every which way for a couple min then apply. Wait for 12hrs, lightly sand and apply 2 coats of color . Allowing to dry between coats. Hope this helps.
P.S wear your mask when sanding and using V.etch!! it smells potent.
All this should cost about $100.00 - $130.00 Good Luck
